O2 recently reported that the iPhone 3G had become the quickest-selling handset in its history. However O2’s exclusive deal to supply the iPhone in U.K is rumoured to be under threat. Apple’s contract with O2 is understood to have a get-out clause that allows Apple to end it in case it is dissatisfied with the marketing of the iPhone. Other mobile phone operators are hopeful of clinching deals in the renegotiation period near the end of 2009. Rumours say that Orange, which supplies the iPhone in 12 countries, is looking to land a deal with Apple for the iphone. Orange UK CEO Tom Alexander recently said that it would be great for them to have the iPhone given their emphasis on data (Mobile data services).
