It is rumored that parts cost of the new 3G iPhone may be as low as $100. What this means is that even priced at just $199, Apple’s price for the new 3G iPhone includes approximately 50 percent gross margin over its cost of parts. Apple will reportedly offer the US $199 price for the new version of the iPhone globally. However, UK based O2 is planning to sell the new iPhone for approximately $193 at the current exchange rates for those customers who opt to sign up for one of the two offered low priced service plans. Those who choose to sign up for either of the two higher priced service plans will be receiving their new 3G iPhone for free.
