Since there has of yet been no official announcement by Apple as to the release date or cost of the much anticipated 3G iPhone, rumors have circulated about exactly what users will be paying to own this second generation iPhone model. The 3G version is expected to run around $399 when released at WWDC 2008, and will include 8GB of memory. It is also expected that a 16GB version will be available at a cost of $499, while a 32GB version will run around $599. This estimated pricing structure is identical to the first release of the current iPhone models. The current 8GB iPhone costs $399, so rumor mills have estimated that the newer version will be released at this price as well.
AT&T’s service for the 3G iPhone is expected to be quite high as well. While the plans for the current iPhone cost around $20 per month, the 3G data service typically sells for around $30 per month, which is a 50 percent increase. It is assumed that Apple and AT&T will attempt to up sell the new 3G iPhone, calling it a high-end product, which of course will cost you more to operate. AT&T is expected to increase the 3G service by as much as $10 per month or more.
