Cro-Mag Rally is a game which allows users to race through the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages in vehicles of primitive dimensions. Geode Cruisers, Bone Buggies, Logmobiles and Trojan Horses are used as Brog seeks to reach his final destination. There is also a wide selection of primitive weapons such as Bone Bombs, Chinese Bottle Rockets and Heat Seeking Homing Pigeons used to maneuver the 9 different tracks. The game is steered with the iPhone itself and is suitable for all ages. Cro-Mag is released by Pangea Software for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Chain3 for iPhone and iPod Touch

Indie developer Shawn McGrath of ][ released information of their first game for the iPhone. The game will be a puzzle game called Chain3. Chain3 is a standard puzzle game where players will have to match three or more colored pieces by swapping the pieces. However, instead of being restricted to swapping only pieces that are sitting next to each other, players can move pieces anywhere on the playing board, which makes it much easier to create combo moves and score more points. There will also be a “dynamically generated soundscape”, two different modes of gameplay and high score tables online. Chain3 is one of the first iPhone games to have confirmed online features. The game is due to come out this month at the launch of the iTunes App Store and will work with iPhone and iPod touch.

Adobe Flash Video for 3G iPhone

Shantanu Narayen, chief executive at Adobe, stated with analysts, updated efforts by Adobe to make Flash videos work on the mobile version of the Safari browser from Apple. He stated that although there is a version working on the emulation, they will continue to move it from the test environment onto the device to continue to make it work and that they are so far pleased with the progress that has been made. The addition of Flash to the iPhone 3G will allow users to view certain videos on the iPhone that are currently not viewable. However, even though the new 3G iPhone has a connection that is fast enough to watch video, Apple still shows no enthusiasm for the Flash technology.

Business Rate Plan Discounts for iPhone 3G

Although many have speculated and wondered about the rate plans that AT&T will offer for consumers with the new 3G version of the iPhone, little attention has been given to corporate and business plans. AT&T does currently offer special employee discounts for corporate rate plans. However, it has not been made clear as of yet whether these discounts will apply to the iPhone. According to Mark A. Siegel, spokesman for AT&T, business discounts are typically handled on a case by case basis. There is still no word as to whether these plans will be eligible with the iPhone, although Siegel did clarify that as the July 11th date draws nearer, the issue of business discounts will become more clear.

Telekom Austria CEO cuts roaming fees on SMS

Boris Nemsic recently criticized the EU as roaming deadlines loom large. He publicly slammed the EU’s policy on mobile roaming tariff regulations and claimed that pan European roaming fees are competitive enough without EU interfering. He stated “The EU’s intrusive approach to tariff regulation defies any rationale and cannot be justified, as it prevents the development of offerings tailored to the real needs of customers instead of promoting them”. These comments come directly after EU Telecom’s commissioner Vivane Reding again noted her plan to induct a cap on fees that current operators charge to access mobile data while abroad.

O2 Announces New 3G iPhone Prices and Tariffs

UK Apple partner O2 stated recently that the 3G iPhone, which is set to be available for consumers soon, will be available on current L2 business tariffs as a monthly add on, which will add an extra £8.50 to the bills of current users. O2 also stated that the older 8G iPhone will be available for free on many of the business tariffs when customers choose a 24 or 36 month contract. The average cost of the 16GB version of the iPhone is expected to range between completely free and £135, depending on the tariff chosen. Customers who choose the free version of the 16GB iPhone will need to be prepared to pay £75 per month on their tariff.

iPhone 3G May Take Over as Apple’s Most Profitable Device

It is rumored that parts cost of the new 3G iPhone may be as low as $100. What this means is that even priced at just $199, Apple’s price for the new 3G iPhone includes approximately 50 percent gross margin over its cost of parts. Apple will reportedly offer the US $199 price for the new version of the iPhone globally. However, UK based O2 is planning to sell the new iPhone for approximately $193 at the current exchange rates for those customers who opt to sign up for one of the two offered low priced service plans. Those who choose to sign up for either of the two higher priced service plans will be receiving their new 3G iPhone for free.

Will Apples Carrier Partners Be More Protected With New iPhone?

About 90 minutes after Steve Jobs concluded his presentation of the new 3G iPhone, AT&T held its own press conferences to announce some changes in the way that the new iPhones will be sold. iPhone users will now be required to sign a two-year contract. This contract is required whether you purchase your iPhone in one of Apple’s stores or one of AT&T’s stores, and there will be no option to order the iPhone online.
AT&T and Apple have also ended their revenue-sharing agreement. Apple stated that the vast majority of its new carrier agreements overseas had nothing to do with revenue sharing. And, the new iPhone data plans will be $10 more expensive.
Many are feeling that this is the aftereffect of the unlocking of iPhones, although Apple executives played down the number of iPhones that have actually been unlocked throughout the past year.
Apple’s carrier partners were very concerned with those numbers, however. Although Apple did deliver a product that had people flocking to switch networks and use mass amounts of data, they did fail to secure that product against people who wanted to unlock it from those designated networks and forced some carriers to see their profits going into the pockets of their rivals.

iPhone 3G Debuts at WWDC

Apple iPhone era number two has begun and already it has become very clear that things are definitely going to be different with this new generation. After many months of speculation, rumors and anticipation, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the newer and faster iPhone model on Monday June 9th, just as expected. Apple is now known to have sold approximately 6 Million iPhones since June of last year and are expected to sell at least that numer again once the new model arrives in stores on July 11th. The newer iPhone will include a faster networking chip, GPS capability and a software upgrade which promises even more features than are currently available.

It is not yet clear whether or not Apple plans to introduce technology changes in the new iPhone that will make it harder to jailbreak and then unlock. Apple is however, planning to require US iPhone users to sign a two-year contract and active the new iPhone exclusively on AT&T’s network before they will be permitted to take the new toy home. This will not eliminate the unlocking completely, but may just discourage it significantly.

Now the new question is whether or not the new iPhone 3G model will allow Apple to meet its sales target for 2008. The target currently stands at 10 million units. Remember that Apple has sold 6 million units so far, but only 2.3 million for this year. We may just have to wait and see what the future holds of Apple iPhone sales by year’s end.

A demo of the mobile application Earthscape offers a look of how the earth appears right on your iPhone. When the iPhone is tilted, the earth will rotate and you can then navigate to another area on the globe. Frank Taylor of the Google Earth Blog who shot the video noted that the application runs locally on the phone and to get the best experience you would want a real geo-spatial information download over WiFi or 3G. This application will allow you to tag specific places with text, photos and other tools. The software is currently only available in private beta for Windows, but Mac and Linux are coming shortly.
